Portesham Patient Participation Group

Our Purpose

Our patient group was formed in 2016.  The group’s mission is to:

  • To be the voice of the patient
  • To help patients to understand Practice decisions
  • To assist the Practice with necessary changes
  • To help the Practice achieve patient satisfaction

The group meets regularly at the surgery alongside surgery staff.  If you have any suggestions that you would like the PPG to look into, regarding the general health service provided by Portesham Surgery, you can contact the group at the following email address:

enquiries@porteshampatients.org.uk

(NB the group cannot look into complaints or your personal healthcare issues – you should raise these directly with the practice.)

Members

The group currently has 7 lead members representing the main population groups in the area.  They are actively looking for more members, particular from Winterbourne Abbas/Steepleton, and the smaller villages around Portesham, as the aim is to have around 12 members representing each of the villages.

Although unable to meet face-to-face during the pandemic, the members have now been able to re-group and have started to meet regularly to look at moving the group forward again.

The group has previously helped with the autumn flu clinics, hosted "Tea and Chat" sessions for patients and carers, has compiled leaflets of local activities and services, and even has monthly gardening sessions in the Surgery for anyone who wants to help improve our car park borders!

The group members are:

  • Andrew Bailey, Chair

  • Carol Kennelly (Puncknowle, Swyre & West Bexington)
  • Sandra Marshal (Puncknowle)
  • Jill Askew (Shipton Gorge)
